Starting with skin care, it is of course super important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and applying a sun protectant to your skin. I’ve been using the Olay Complete Defence Daily UV Moisturising Lotion with SPF 30+ (RRP $14.99). When one in two Australians are diagnosed with sun cancer in their lifetime, it’s important to look after your skin. This lotion is a non-greasy formula that sits great under makeup should you apply it, and has that amazing Olay skincare scent.
While there is no problem wearing a full face of foundation if that’s what you choose to do, I normally prefer to wear a BB Cream in the Summer months if my skin is going okay with no major issues. I recently reviewed the Sanctuary Spa Brightening BB Cream, which is fantastic, but also have tried the Covergirl Smoothers BB Cream in Fair to Light (RRP $13.95)which is more than half the price of the SS BB Cream, and does a lovely job. It has SPF 15+, and blends nicely into a sheer colour for your skin tone. It’s also super lightweight with a lovely natural finish, which is a must for me in this heat!
I don’t normally wear a great deal of eyeshadow during hot hot days, especially if I intend on going swimming or spending a lot of time outside, but I have really been loving the Covergirl Bombshell Shine Shadows (RRP $11.95 each). Using a cream shadow from a tube is something I used to do on the daily in my high school years. I think I actually had a very similar product in a stunning frosty blue – very 2003 🙂 But these little tubes have come a LONG way since then! They are more blendable and buildable, and definitely more illuminating than the chunky, glittery cream shadows from the early 2000s. After testing these guys out, I found minimal creasing even on my oily eyelids, though I did use my Essence I Love Stage Primer. You can’t go wrong with a muddy lavender in Ooh La Lilac, or the beautiful Golden Goddess. Team this with Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Mascara, and your peepers are good to go!
With the extra moisture in the air, especially with all the Summer storms we’ve had lately, my hair has understandably gone a bit crazy! I have fine hair that gets weighed down when it’s humid, and always has lots of fly aways. The Sebastian Professional Drynamic (RRP $15.00) is a dry shampoo that doesn’t have that powdery finish and adds texture without leaving your hair looking dry and dull. It also works a little like a flexible hairspray, and it really makes managing a style easier and increases the hold of your style.
Lastly, what’s Summer without a good (fake) tan! I have been a huge fan of the Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Mousse, and now they’ve released an amazing new product! The Cocoa Brown Instant Tan Bronzing Gel in Matte (RRP €6.99) is a washable instant tan for those nights when you have a surprise event and need a little extra colour, or to deepen your existing fake tan and give a fresh just-sun-kissed glow. I love the matte finish of this product, as you will find quite a lot of instant tans on the market that have a slight shimmer to them, and we don’t all want to be a glitter ball! It’s cool if you do though, they have the shimmer version of this available too! Keep an eye out for a full review on this product coming soon!
