First up we will start with makeup.
My friend Kasia recently travelled to Japan, and brought me back a stack of Japanese goodies to try – I was in heaven! There was a huge mix of makeup, skincare, nails and kooky items that make you think “Only in Japan!” One product I’ve been using quite consistently is the Sana Pore Putty BB Cream (RRP $12 USD). A cult favourite and I believe one of the first BB Creams available, it creates such a gorgeous effect on the skin, covering imperfections with ease (I rarely need to add concealer with this one) without looking too ‘done’ or cakey. In saying that, the coverage is still pretty sheer (it lets my freckles peek through). I will say that I am pretty lucky that it comes in my shade because I’m not certain they even make other shades. So if you’re light medium yellow base, this will work! But if not, I’m afraid it’s not worth investing in.
Probably the most exciting purchase I made in September was the highly anticipated Becca/Jaclyn Hill Split Pan (RRP $64.00). I chose Champagne Pop/Flower Child from the four options available and I am seriously in love! The quality of the blush and highlighter is so nice, and in my opinion, worth investing in. They are both buttery smooth, blend amazingly and have pretty great pigmentation. The highlighter itself isn’t chalky or that awful glittery/dusty look that some highlighters have.
Nyx lip products are SO GOOD and when I finally got my hands on the coveted Nyx Butter Gloss in Creme Brûlée (RRP $9.95). First off it smells amazing, like vanilla cupcake, and secondly the soft pink colour is so perfect for this time of year, and looks really effortless.
Next up, skincare!
Another favourite is the Tony Moly I’m Real Sheet Masks (RRP $1.80 ea) – and there are so many different kinds to choose from! Some stand out favourites are Brocolli, Acerola and Red Wine (legit smells exactly like red wine!!!). These sheet masks are so addictive and relaxing, I find myself wearing one a few times a week. They are also great to prep skin before a big event for that extra boost of hydration.
Lastly, I’ve really been loving some samples of dōTERRA oils that my sister gave me. They are the highest grade of essential oils than the ones you find in the chemist, and are safer to use than any other (you can even ingest some of these!). The samples I have are made up with coconut oil, so they are all safe to rub onto your skin and inhale as well. My stand out favourites are Balance for anxiety, Lavender Peace for Sleep (a big favourite of my partner as well, it’s helped his RLS and snoring!) and Elevation for a pick me up! Let me know if you’d like a full review on all of these, or check out my sister’s Facebook page for more info!
