Review: Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation

Rimmel London‘s Wake Me Up Foundation was my favourite foundation of 2013. I put it aside. Not because I was bored with it, or it wasn’t performing the way it should, but I thought I would see what else was out there. I’ve found some new amazing foundations, but WMU is my first true love.

What Rimmel London Says

Wake Up & Glow! Rimmel’s first liquid foundation that instantly reawakens skin with a healthy, radiant glow Light, moisturising texture applies smoothly and leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable all day Gives an instant flawless, natural-looking finish Visible anti-fatigue effect with peptides and a Vitamin Moisturising complex

What The Minted Beauty Says

This foundation gives me a medium coverage (I do still need some a little help from my friend concealer) but still feels light on the skin. You do need to be a little heavy handed with this foundation, but it is never cakey or overdone looking. The scent is extraordinary (one of my favourite makeup scents) which is actually the same scent as the Rimmel London 9-in-1 Matte BB Cream.

Although when looking at the bottle, it appears as though there are glittery pigments within, it doesn’t show up on the skin (even with flash). It is moisturising enough to not cling to dry patches (hello Winter), but is not too rich for my oily combination skin. It’s one of the only foundations for ‘dewy skin’ that does not leave me looking like a greaser.

The one problem I do have with this foundation is again, the lack of shades available. I use True Ivory which suits me for most of the year, but does need additional blending in Winter.

You can buy it here on Asos of $11.67 (+ free shipping, yay!) in Light Porcelain, or on Priceline for RRP $19.97 in all six available shades.
