Review: L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess Mascara

posted in: ZERO WASTE | 0

After much thought and very serious decision making (:P) I decided on purchasing L’Oreal’s lastest mascara available in Australia. L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess Mascara promises bold volume and clean definition of lashes with minimal clumping. Although I’ve been using Max Factor Clump Defy False Lash Effect religiously, I wanted to give this one a try as well! Plus I’ve used up the tube of Max Factor mascara. Yikes!

Packaging

I am in love with the packaging, and it is the thing that caught my attention of this mascara in the first place. It has a gold and red metallic tube, and looks very chic and a little bit high end in my opinion. Most drug store mascaras tend to be quite cheap looking with bright flashy colours and bold writing. But at the end of the day, it’s more about the product than the packaging. Still, I feel a little bit more adult and fancy using this mascara wand and tube

Wand

The ‘million lashes’ wand is a plastic bristly wand, which I certainly prefer to fiber wands and is slightly angled to help shape your lashes. I found that the wand was incredibly easy to use and glided through my lashes effortlessly. It was also very easy to maneuver, as I can find some mascara wands can be super chunky and it can be easy to accidentally hit your skin around your eye. It was slim enough to easily apply mascara to my inner-most lashes right near the corner of my eye.

Formula

I have worn this mascara twice now, and have yet to experience any unwanted smudging or flaking. The formula seems quite wet to begin with but dries super quick (just the way I like it!). I found it really amped up the volume of my lashes and added a little length. My lashes are pretty long as it is, so I am not sure how it would fare on shorter lashes. Both days it lasted all the way until night time. (For reference here though, I work in an air-conditioned office, so there was no weather/humidity coming into this!)

Price

I find that L’Oreal products tend to be a bit more expensive than other drug store products in Australia. I managed to pick up this mascara for $22.95 despite the RRP $27.95, as Big W was having a sale of $5 every L’Oreal product. My regular mascara by Max Factor is $24.95, so it’s not that much more expensive really.

Overall

I am really enjoying using this mascara, and I think I will continue using it. I would definitely repurchase Max Factor as well, but for the time being I am in love with this gem

Have you tried any L’Oreal mascaras? What were your thoughts on them?

Stay Minty!
