Day to Night Makeup Look

Starting with day products, I normally like to keep it pretty basic throughout the day. Though, if I know I’ll be heading out that night, I take a bit more care to ensure my makeup will last through the day. I like to start with my favourite primer Mecca Cosmetica Hydrating Primer (RRP $40.00) and follow with a the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation (RRP $49.00). You really can’t beat this foundation for longevity, it’s amazing. I like to keep the rest of my makeup pretty simple with a neutral eye, a bit of mascara, touch of blush, brows and a nude pink lip.

When I am about to get ready to go out (whether it’s a quick trip home, or I’ve brought a makeup bag to work, I like to start by refreshing my base. I don’t like to go all out with more foundation, but do a few quick touch ups with a concealer. I use either my all time drugstore fave Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (RRP $14.95) or I recently starting using the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer (RRP $32.00) which I also really like. Next I add a bit of powder to make sure I don’t look too shiny after my day of work. The elf HIgh Definition Powder (RRP $6.00) is really nice and also super affordable!

Next, I add a touch more blush and switch up my lipstick to a more dramatic colour. You can never go wrong with a red lip! I’ve been loving Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam (RRP $12.95).

Lastly to really amp up my look for a night event, false lashes are a must. I don’t normally wear false eyelashes during the day (except for all day events like weddings, or blogger events), but night time I almost always have them on. They really complete the look and make you feel that much more pulled together. I’ve been using the 1000 Hour Day to Night Lashes (RRP $15.99). They come with a great eyelash glue that I find works quite well. I apply the lashes with tweezers, and trim them a little to fit my eye shape if necessary.

Do you often go straight to events after work? What are your best tips?
